Guided by compassion and presence, I help individuals and families navigate life’s final chapter with dignity and care.
I’m Julia, a Boston-area death doula, end-of-life planner, and founder of Estuary End-of-Life Care. I provide compassionate, non-medical end-of-life doula support to individuals and families throughout Boston and Greater Boston, helping people navigate dying, prepare for the end of life, and support loved ones with greater clarity, connection, and dignity.
My path to this work is both personal and professional. I experienced the death of my mother at a young age and have since accompanied several loved ones through their final days. These experiences inform my belief that dying is not only a medical event, but a deeply relational and human passage.
Professionally, I bring a background in community social work, mediation, and facilitation. I have extensive experience working in community-based and senior living settings, supporting individuals and families as they navigate complex systems, difficult decisions, and major life transitions. My work centers collaborative dialogue, values-based decision-making, and strengthening the relationships that sustain us.
As a death doula, I provide non-medical, holistic support including advance care planning, facilitated family conversations, bedside presence, and guidance for loved ones. I believe that when we face death together—openly and courageously—we create the possibility for greater peace, dignity, and belonging at the end of life.
I completed my end-of-life doula training through renowned death doula Alua Arthur’s training program, Going with Grace, and am a co-leader of Living While Mortal, where I guide conversations on end-of-life planning and making sense of life and death. I also co-lead the Boston pod of The Doula Guild, a supportive network of end-of-life doulas in Massachusetts. I hold a Master of Social Work from Boston College School of Social Work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
